I will be back in Orlando for the Thanksgiving holiday, so I am very glad to see that the weather will be somewhat pleasant during my visit. The NWS is forecasting a morning low of 42F and an afternoon high of 69F on Thanksgiving day. Beautiful!

The 00z GFS MOS is calling for a low temperature of 39F at the Orlando International Airport on Thanksgiving morning.

Update - The NWS does not agree with this though and is only calling for a morning low of 44F.

NWS Miami going with a "Chamber of Commerce" postcard forecast for the holiday weekend...only an outside shower chance with the easterly flow on sunday.

Thanksgiving Day...Mostly sunny. Highs in the upper 70s.

Thursday Night...Mostly clear. Lows in the upper 50s.

Friday Through Saturday Night...Partly cloudy. Highs in the lower 80s. Lows in the mid 60s.

Last night was one of those nights where wind flow made all of the difference...Miami International dropped to 61 deg with a light northerly flow. Meanwhile, Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International kept an e-ne flow all night....and the low temp only fell to 69 deg.

With your reading of 57...quite possible there was up to a 15 degree range in low temps across se fl last night...or more.

Another front moves through by Tuesday or so...
bringing temperatures over central inland Florida
of 40-45 *F into Wednesday night. Then things warm up.

I wonder, with temperatures averaging 25 degrees below
normal last week and now still 15-20 degrees below normal
this week and 10 degrees below normal today, even with that
warm up temperatures will still be 5 degrees below normal.
Usually, you get prefrontal temperatures 10 degrees above normal,
and then post-front temperatures 10 degrees below normal.

But with these cold fronts, the temperature does not even modify
to the normal temperatures.

With this in mind, a strong cold front in December or January could
put Florida in a Severe Freeze.

In 2002, Tampa dipped to the upper 30s for the first time in very late
November/December. That was a very cold winter. January 24, 2003
brought Arctic Fury with a low in Tampa of 27*F and 29*F in Saint
Petersburg, the coldest in a decade.

We have ALREADY in mid november seen widespread mid to upper
30s; Could this mean a potentially devastating freeze in January,
if you extrapolate- you are looking at, with these series fronts,
the following December/January Cold Potentials:
Tampa: 25*F
Saint Petersburg: 27*F
Miami: 32*F
Orlando: 24*F
Tallahassee: 9*F
Destin: 9*F

Unless there is a significant pattern change, we are in for a
significantly brutal winter- especially for farmers. The jet stream
has a HECK of extra energy this year allowing it to dive so far south
in the East while setting heat records in the West.

Ok snowbirds which one of you guys forgot to close the artic canadian door?

And for those of you loving this cold weather I am so confused why you are here in fl then. Our economy sucks low income low paying jobs or no jobs at all. I understand if you like a break from 90 degree weather. But like waking up to 30 degree temperatures every morning? Cant go to the beach or swim in the pool? Like to be bundled up and scraping your windshields? You can have all that up in the carolinas to ga not much snow in those states less you go to the mountains. I wish it was temperate like hawaii. 80 degrees year round. That would be perfect. I don't like the sauna all that much but I sure hate the cold even more.

This is why I am happy to be from and live in North Florida.
We get the best of both worlds. 80F+ majority of the year, and a few cold snaps to change things up. We are generally warmer than Miami in mid summer by a few degrees on average, yet are 15-20 degrees colder in winter. Occasionally get a few flurries over the winter, but it quickly warms up.

I like the changes, if I wanted Hawaii weather, I would live in Hawaii.

Besides, how many native Floridians can say that they have had a white christmas at home!
