Hmmm...

She looks pretty interesting. It almost seems like outflow is starting to develop around a center - just from looking at the still picture.

And as long as the system stays at a low latitude (below 12 N)....it's over sst at or above 80° F degrees....once it passes west of 49 W, everything is at/above 80° F all the way to latitude 40 N.

Invest looks good tonight. Now let's see what it's made of. This could be the beginning of our long awaited CV season. Looks nice and plump, not puny,(I'll try to limit all my technical talk) LOL

Has the look of a long classic cape verde tracker.

GFS

#8 Postby wxman57 » Tue Jul 29, 2003 10:13 pm

Note that the GFS is still insisting on a northward turn around 50W then NW to near Bermuda where it moves much more slowly for a few days then shoots off to the north. That may not be too unlikely if that ridge breaks down to its north this weekend.

Looking at the latest satellite, I think that it may already be a TD.

The GFS is taking the system almost right through a weakness, IMO, which I think won't be there by the time this system gets there. It is really aggressive in developing another very strong trough, and in that range, the GFS's truncation is not strong enough. Unfortunately, I am not buying the turn to the north so quickly. Heck, the GFS hasn't been of much use beyond 96 hours, let alone a week away.
