I have read all the posts here and while I respect everyone's opinion as their own, which you are entitled too, I have no desire to debate this issue. I am posting simply to tell Johnathon and GD that I am your friend and like it has been said, nothing is any different now that it was before these posts were made. Johnathon and I have had a nice long AIM chat about this and he knows that I am his friend first and foremost. GD, I hope you know how I feel too. Life is just too short for things to get in the way of one heart touching another, the way they do between friends. I appreciate the honesty and integrity of this board and there many here who I consider dear, dear friends. Love is simply simple!! Live Simply; Laugh Often;Love Deeply!

Hi all - Wow, walk away from this topic for 6 hours and all you know what breaks loose! I got stung by a bee this morning, sat in the ER parking lot for an hour to see if symptoms were progressing (I'm highly allergic to some bees) and then just had lunch with my daughter in the hospital cafeteria (a good one, actually!). Luckily it wasn't a full blown reaction but now I'm all looped up on Benadryl.....

Johnathan - I most want to commend you for speaking up and revealing you are gay. That took so much courage and I do NOT think any less of you. I actually think MORE of you now. I hope you know you're among friends here. Please consider me a friend too.

Duck - I don't think I ever got to welcome you to Storm2K properly. You must have joined when I was away on vacation or something! You have many good points to make. Wonderful insight!

Yes, indeed... Mary. I tried to read all the posts in this thread since my last visit... I scanned the ones I didn't read (like the entire board in general).

Jonathan, I am still your friend as well. I appreciate your discussions on this board and looking forward to corresponding with you when ever you wish.

The bible?? I believe the bible was translated to the best of the ablities of the translators...

Forgive me for pushing the issue. This isn't really about sexual orientation, I just want to ask you a sincere question: I asked if you believe the Bible is true, and you said that you do. Now I get the impression that you're not quite sure the Bible is a reliable source of information. This leads me to wonder, how can you believe it's true if you're not sure it's accurately recorded? I have struggled with this issue myself in the past. I needed a LOT of evidence to convince me that the Bible is a valid source of information and inspiration. While I cannot give you "proof", (proof is a judgment call & can only be pronounced by the individual studying the evidence), I can present a boatload of evidence that the King James Bible is a very reasonably accurate (within a few syntax errors that don't affect intended meaning) translation of original manuscripts, of which there are more extant copies than any other historical document.

Being fairly new to this forum, I cannot say that I am your friend, but whether you are gay or not, whether or not you accept the Bible to be true, whether you are black or white or pink or purple, I will treat you with the respect I would offer to anyone, barring personal attacks to myself, my loved ones or my God.

Wouldn't that be like saying I have no issue with child molestors; I take issue with child molestation?

I take issue with BOTH.

You make an excellent point, but I think it's important to distinguish the person from the act. Jesus, on many occasions, had dealings with a number of rather unsavory characters, and He was judged for it by the religious leaders of His day. He had compassion on the adulteress, on the harlot, on the thief hanging next to him on the cross; he had compassion on the tax collectors who were charging people an insane amount of money for their own gain, but He didn't mince words. He made it very clear that they were to "go and sin no more." He cared for these people. He wanted to show them a better way, and many of them had a change of heart because of His compassion toward them. I care for my dad, a child molester (coming way out of the closet now), but I certainly don't appreciate his actions. I have forgiven him for his past offenses to me because of the forgiveness I have received from my Lord, and I continue to pray for him, in hopes that someday he will find true peace in a life of service to God, because I care about him.

~~~
Jonathan, I don't know you, but I want you to know that it would greatly grieve me to know if something bad happened to you. It would be true then, for me to say that I care about you, regardless of my opinions on your lifestyle choices.
We have a difference in opionions about certain things, but thats not to say I dont consider John to be my friend AND A GOOD one at that, and he always will be!
Thanks Stephanie and Bron..VB I choose to come out here because..Like I said I feel like we are all family and I wanted to be honest and to be able to reply when I feel like need to..like I said some people will never understand and by me coming out..it wasn't pushing it in your face..it was being true to myself..If you have a problem with that then sorry!! :wink: VB wrote <<<<< It is of no consequence to me one way or the other until "you" try to push it off on me or ask for special dispensation due to your sexual orientation. I guess the best way to say how I feel is that I have never understood why SOME have to let others publicly know what their sexual orientation is(and I am not saying you should not have "come out" here)by the way they act in public. >>>>>>>>..more misconception..why would I want special privleges?? I just want the same rights as you have..nothing more nothing less :roll: As I said I think many people have a misconception of what gay people are like..you all know me and like me..hopefully still do :lol: :lol: My point is if I told everyone in the beginning they might not have liked me..before they got to know me..I am just trying to say don't judge the many by the actions of a few..plain and simple... :wink:
I do not want to belabor this at all, but I must clear something up!!! When I put the quotes around you I was generalizing the term to those who do "flaunt" their sexuality, whatever it may be. I applaud you for feeling comfortable enough with yourself and who you are and with your family here to be open about your gayness. I was talking about flamers or whatever you want to call the them, not normal everyday people that are like you Johnathan. I would never want you or any other person, gay or otherwise, to be denied the same rights I as an American citizen am afforded by the Constitution and laws of this country. I'm sorry if you misread my post earlier-THERE WAS NEVER ANY MAL INTENT IN THE POST AT ALL-NEVER!!!! I AM NOT THAT TYPE OF PERSON!!! There are several here at Storm2k that can attest to that!! I consider you my friend and have since I came to know you here at Storm2k and it shall remain that way unless you choose to change it.
That's why we call it faith. We read it with an open heart, open mind, and have faith that God will show us the wisdom and guidance that He has planned for our lives.
