Tailgater's spot is Ana's remnant center after traveling up over Cuba all day yesterday and being ripped apart by the ULL. It's trying to refire, which shows the tenacity Ana possesses. Track is more west than predicted. Still under the ULL. (My theory Ana was traveling up Cuba yesterday was correct)

Maybe when it hits the loop current...

Tailgater,
Yep saw that on satellite as well this morning. Does look impressive so I am anxious to see if anything develops throughout the day.

This is going to sound extreme but it does a good job illustrating a point of how quickly things can change in the tropics. Remember the wave that eventually became Katrina? Regarding TD 10, the low-level circulation gradually weakened while continuing westward, and it eventually dissipated on 21 August in the vicinity of Cuba. Meanwhile, a middle tropospheric circulation originating from Tropical Depression Ten lagged behind and passed north of the Leeward Islands on 18-19 August. A tropical wave, which departed the west coast of Africa on 11 August, moved through the Leeward Islands and merged with the middle tropospheric remnants of Tropical Depression Ten on 19 August and produced a large area of showers and thunderstorms north of Puerto Rico. This activity continued to move slowly northwestward, passing north of Hispaniola and then consolidating just east of the Turks and Caicos during the afternoon of 22 August. Dvorak satellite classifications from the Tropical Analysis and Forecast Branch (TAFB) of the Tropical Prediction Center (TPC) began at 1800 UTC that day.* *NHC Archives
You know the rest. I want to point out that I remember tracking the remnants of TD10 and thinking how odd it would be for redevelopment to occur from a barely detectible low. It happened when a number of conditions coincided. That said, while I don't expect development from the remnants of Ana I do agree they must be monitored at this point.

You sir read my mind. I was thinking about this yesterday. Definitely don't think we are looking at another Katrina or necessarily a regenerated TC, but my "one eye always on the GOM" is wide open!!

The NAM develops a low eventually out in the Gulf and moves it toward LA.

Joe B said the disturbed weather would develop south of the LA coast.

It'll be interesting then Pearl if anything does form, did he say it comes from Ana's pitiful remains or from a new area?

From what he said, it appears to be a new area of disturbed weather. Ana's remains should slide up the west side of FL.

Yeah, I'd be interested in what "most global models are developing now..." A Cape Verde wave?

Yeah, probably so. In the Bill models thread, I just saw where the CMC has another system in the same general location as Bill is now, a week from now. I guess other models do as well.

Yes, I saw that too Dean...it looks like it is developing that broad area of low pressure just off the Louisiana coast in about 48 hours and moves it inland around the mouth of the Mississippi River.

Bill has our undivided attention now. Nothing else noteworthy in the rest of the basin or the east pac either.

Post Review:

The ULL shredded Ana's weak remnants away and wiped out the surface feature that couldn't survive both land and the ULL.
