Recon did find a weaker system IMO overall, HOWEVER that was due to it looking fairly ILL a couple of hours ago. I gather if they were out there now and continued for another 1 hour so they would find an IDA just as strong as before. Hard to say this would be weakening based on the SAT presentation.

Maybe the people saying east are related to the replay officials from yesterdays LSU's blown call.

Although I have been here since the inception of S2K, somewhere along the line I missed the meaning of SFMR. Sorry for the newbie question but could someone please explain what it is and its significance?
Thanks,
Lynn

I see on Google that winds were only 16kts at that time. So maybe just 979mb.
I was looking at the actual data...not sure where google gets it from .
Well, from the latest advisory. Looks like Google is correct.

Yea, Yea I hear you. I hope Florida beats yall's a$$. I am one of the few around here that thinks there will be many more for you guys because as long as we have Leslie here we are always going to be second or third in the west. Back on topic Ida looks a lot better compared to 3 hours ago.

I don't know if you are responding to me, I'm not denying the convection is expanding to the west now I was saying the center was either moving east of the next forecast point or the west side of the circulation was void of convection.

it gets the surface winds based I believe on the height of the waves.

Re: ATL : HURRICANE IDA
As someone mentioned earlier faster is worse for us in on the north central coast. It just means she will beat the trough before turning eastward.

I think they felt the FL winds were too much for them to resist. I would have gone with 80 kt based on the dropsonde and SFMR, also making note that the pressure rose a bit (adjusted dropsonde would have it around 976mb, compared to 972mb earlier).

I was a little suprised as well, for the same reasons and the pressure having come up. It gives the impression the storm is intensifying at the time of advisory.
