Ah, the marijuana debate. During my college days I was, lets say, notorious. After getting married and having kids things changed. I made the decision to give it up for practical rather than moral reasons, and I've shared this with my kids:
1. It's expensive and diverts money away from needed things like food, diapers, and school lunch money.
2. It is illegal and it could make life complicated and even more expensive if caught.
3. Life is simpler without having to worry about hiding it, losing it, running out, and finding more.
4. Smoking anything carries health risks.
That's good enough for me and I am not inclined to lobby for legalization. You can go round and round on the moral/legal/freedom issues, but I'd rather spend my energy on other battles.
