Looks like we're getting a going-away present from this system. Nice intensity building back to the southwest of FTW w/in the last hour.

For anyone near Abilene...

Road Conditions
Reported by: Austin Kellerman

Tuesday, Dec 29, 2009 @03:30pm CST

* According to Gary Young with the ECCA volunteer fire department says we need to tell people to avoid 277 South. He said roads are snow packed and that they have had several accidents today already.
* The Texas Highway Patrol in Cross Plains is asking people to avoind Texas Highway 36 from Cross Plains to Abilene. The highway is snow covered and slick. People need to avoid traveling on this highway.
* One accident has already been reported along I-20 westbound just west of Abilene. No one was seriously injured.

You can check current road conditions here.

I thought the back edge was further east? It's already cleared in west Texas. Is there another shortwave out west?

Moderate snow here, atleast a dusting, 34 degrees. We would have alot more here but the snow seems to be melting, dusting of snow none-the-less. Nice snowbands devolping and still heading in from the southwest...

Is the Arctic air still supposed to come in after the 4/5 Jan or so? With another winter storm? Seems the New Year's storm is out, and with the forecast of rising temps, nothing substantial should be out there until 8-10 days out, am I reading the posted models/charts correctly?

we have about a half inch on our grass, and now the roofs are covered. I must live in a prime spot, I think it might have to do with elevation living in by the Cedar Hill/ Grand prairie part of town. I went to get something to eat about 5 miles east of here, and it was hardly sticking at all, but it's pretty white over here.

Pretty neat I didn't expect this much an hour or two ago. It's still coming down.

Is the precip back building a little bit? The radar looks that way or is it just me?

Same effect here. I think the residential areas get a better coating. Once you get near the big roads\highways doesn't want to stick.

I think it just got stronger, and slowed down a tad I don't its building any further south. But by the looks of it I should get as much snow or more than Christmas Eve.
