You mean shocked like I was when I woke up 2/10 to find 1.5" of snow on the ground, and it snowing heavily?

If you look at the radar suprisingly the entire band is very complex execpt for one part, the part that is actaully over Abilene. Abilene consequently reporting Snow/Fog 32.

EDIT: Lubbock International Airport
Heavy Snow Freezing Fog 27 °F

But I've stared at that Intellicast screen several times and it looks to me like there is an almost straight west to east motion on the main precip shield. Checked the Amarillo NWS radar shots and it appears to be the same.

I'm beginning to think that there may be a chance that this a) is moving further north than progged or b) will have a much more widespread impact than previously thought.

In an earlier post Ntxw said the "Bands are moving east west, the entire complex if you look further out is moving ESE, also the precip building is shifting south."

I saw that post, but what I was saying is that I DIDN'T see much evidence of that. Ntxw is almost always spot on, but an awful lot of west to east motion in the precip shield IMO.

The upper low shows-up nicely on water vapor, it's still digging SE over Arizona. The amount of precip breaking-out over Texas so far ahead of the system is impressive, no doubt about that.

Not necessarily, it just seems that the precip coverage is more impressive than a lot of us have thought.

Only time will tell, but probably not. As Jasons alluded to, the upper low is still well to the west of Texas and digging.

BUT there is already an impressive amount of precip building over west Texas and the Panhandle.

If that precip is able to hold together as the upper low moves into Texas, who knows, perhaps there will be more snow to the north of I-20 than previously expected.

And that could certainly give DFW its seasonal record if that happens.

In my unofficial opinion, one thing seems sure, somebody in central and/or north-central Texas is going to get pounded by snow in the next 24 hours.

0z NAM has the precip hanging a bit longer it seems but it also takes longer for the Cold air to plunge.. This could be important for some areas.. not much change to the track.. I like huntsvilles chances for heavy snow
