Well, this muck of a mess continues and like all of you, it infuriates me. Wish a back up relief well had been drilled as a contingency plan initially, given how deep BP's drilling went! Rumors are beginning to float that the wear and tear on BOP is increasing, or has blown it off, thus allowing more and thicker oil to escape. This may be why BP didn't want live video tomorrow, as well as some discussion for a while they were not even going to proceed as planned with the Top Fill.
I'm glad President Obama is going down on Friday, even in light of the criticism of expense, time wasted, safety or other. I hope it lights a fire under our governments feet that currently is rightly smoldering, as a solution just has to be found less the Gulf be ruined. We put a man on the moon, didn't we?
Maybe a relief well or two drilled directly straight down or taking the path of least resistance into the reservoir with great speed, aided by our government, wouldn't be such a bad idea after all? Then US ships could just line up for the oil until the reservoir is drained. The probability of accurately intercepting the 12 inch round outer core of metal of the original well, in light of the reported problems already with the relief drilling (hitting rock, not moving through as expected based on BP's analysis) seems so off and even unlikely. Then what? What's the back up plan?
