Looks Dallas 1-1.5", Austin 1", Tomball 1" on my latest approx...but I stink at snow totals.

I am getting confused if people are talking about todays possible event or next weeks. I guess that is a good sign that we have more than one to talk about, haha

First off, ive been viewing the board over the past month and its been an interesting read at times. Also, im curious concerning what the models are showing for next week in No.TX(D/FW), as I think I read this right...a snowstorm?

Correct. Wednesday/Thursday time frame. GFS is just now coming on board, and the CMC came on board last night. Euro is showing a decent snow storm maybe around 5 inches or so. Though accumulations are a total guess right now.

Kool, I'll be looking at them soon.

I must add though this is almost ridiculous.

My work has been closed for three days. Schools closed for three days. My business with my wife has been put at a halt becuase I can't go to the post office...

sigh..

IIRC, you wanted this winter stuff!

And it looks like you'll be getting more next week.

Oh absolutely - don't get me wrong, everyone loves a little fun in the snow but I'll take it in equal portions. We have had sleet and snow on the ground covering the ground and roads for three days now, and as I mentioned everything is shut down..

At work I make about 200 a day, and my online business days 200 or so a day, but if I can't ship out orders and can't get my product here I'm screwed...

thats 400 per day x 3 so I've lost 1200 bucks plus, my boss tells me its likely we will be closed Friday, and Saturday.

So, financially, this is hurting.. However I guess I'll try to be postitive.. It could be worse. we could be without food/electricity/ health etc..

And on that end my family is in good shape :)
Sorry just a little vent there..
God Bless everyone :)

.UPDATE...STARTING TO GET A FEW REPORTS OF VERY LIGHT PRECIP
FREEZING TO VEHICLES AND EXPOSED METAL SURFACES. TEMP AT KBRO HAS
DROPPED 2 DEGREES IN THE PAST HOUR...WITH /UP/ BEING REPORTED AT
KBRO AND KHRL IN THE PAST HOUR. TEMPS WILL HOVER AT OR JUST BELOW
FREEZING WITH -ZR/-IP CONTINUING. AS MOISTURE JUST OFF THE SFC
CONTINUES TO SLOWLY MOVE INLAND...PRECIP WILL BEGIN FOR AREAS WEST
OF US 77. MAIN CONCERN IS THE WARM POCKET ALOFT...HOW FAR INLAND
THE WARM POCKET MOVES...AND HOW THICK IS THE SUBFREEZING SFC
LAYER. MODELS STILL INDICATE THE ROUGH TRANSITION LINE WILL BE THE
KENEDY/BROOKS BORDER SOUTH TO AROUND WESLACO. AREAS WEST OF THERE
WILL SEE MAINLY SNOW...-IP EAST OF THAT LINE TO US 77...AND -ZR
EAST OF US 77 TO THE COAST. CONDITIONS WILL CHANGE LITTLE
OVERNIGHT AS TEMPERATURES CHANGE VERY LITTLE IN THE UPPER 20S.
BEST DYNAMICS ALOFT MOVE IN OVERNIGHT...GIVING INCREASED PRECIP
INTENSITY. TOTAL ACCUMULATION OF UNDER 1/2 INCH EXPECTED...WITH
ICE ACCUMULATION UNDER 1/4 INCH. AREAS IN BROOKS AND NORTHERN
HIDALGO COUNTIES MAY SEE ENOUGH SNOW FOR A TOTAL OF AN INCH
ACCUMULATION. AS THE SYSTEM DEPARTS TOMORROW MORNING...PRECIP WILL
END MID MORNING. TEMPS MAY RISE JUST ENOUGH ABOVE FREEZING TO
BRIEFLY TURN PRECIP BACK TO RAIN BEFORE ENDING IN THE LOWER
VALLEY. NOTE THAT THE WEATHER SENSOR ON THE KSPL AWOS IS
MALFUNCTIONING AND IS NOT REFLECTIVE OF CURRENT WEATHER PATTERNS.

I guess I'll just start looking forward to a potential beautiful snowfall even next week and put this ice storm behind me :)

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HOUSTON/GALVESTON TX
846 AM CST THU FEB 3 2011

.UPDATE...
KHGX RADAR SHOWS A BAND OF LIGHT RETURNS ALONG THE US 59 CORRIDOR
INCLUDING OVER HARRIS COUNTY. IN ADDITION...WE RECEIVED A REPORT
OF SLEET IN POLK COUNTY. WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED TO SEE SOME
REPORTS OF LIGHT SLEET AND SNOW IN THE HOUSTON AREA IN THE NEXT
COUPLE OF HOURS. AS A RESULT HAVE MADE SOME CHANGES TO UP POPS FOR
THE FIRST PERIOD OF THE FORECAST. IN ADDITION...ADJUSTED TEMPS
BASED ON CURRENT TRENDS. MODEL FORECAST SOUNDINGS INDICATE THAT
THE ATMOSPHERE WILL TAKE QUITE A WHILE TO SATURATE...WITH THE
PRECIP REMAINING VERY LIGHT THROUGH THE EARLY EVENING HOURS. THE
MAIN EVENT IS EXPECTED IN THE 06-12Z TIME FRAME TONIGHT. NO
CHANGES TO THE WARNING OR TO FORECAST AMOUNTS AT THIS TIME.

Do you think there is a slight possibility for more in the Dallas area?
What's the latest HRRR showing for the onset of the event for NTX people?

Here's hoping you have a dry and sunny and relatively warm weekend and work returns!

Over the past few days the forecast highs for the weekend have slowly trended down, according to local mets forecasts.

Newest HRRR is coming in extremely well for Houston so far. We'll see about the rest of us. It hasn't updated completely yet.

Radar is starting to show a few snow flurry returns here in Travis County but I haven't heard any actual reports yet of observed snow. Probably virga.

HRRR almost seems to have a hole over houston of no snow, lol. But I think this latest run is a good sign. It's showing heavier precip all around Houston. Then a band moving from San Antonio all the way back to the Texas/LA border moving north towards Austin and it's pretty decent moisture too.
