Our local met (Miami) said this will NOT hit Florida.

He had better be right!

That's REALLY irresponsible. If any of us knew that for certain, we'd be rich.

They should have given it a name more dissimilar from Katrina.

WTVY in Dothan wrote Katia off Tuesday
http://4warnwxteam.com/

Extended models show Katia intensifying to a hurricane by Thursday, but turning it out to sea.

Models continue to suggest developments in the Gulf by Friday….

Did he say probably not? Or a definitive NO. Cause if he made such a bold statement and that does not follow through. There are going to be a lot of angry people and a lot of people staying behind because they took his word to heart. Making absolute certain claims this far out is nothing short of rediculous. Do most models project florida? No, but the chances of her recurving later and heading into the EC is becoming more and more or a reality as time passes. I think his statement was kind of irresponsible.

Indeed...Most realiable (real) global models still recurve this system. There just isn't anything there to drive this westward towards the coast. The parade of trofs shows no sign of ending anytime soon.

Something is off.. the 18z nogaps from the navy site has at almost 75 west ... the SFWMD plots have it turning at 67 west... and thats not the only issue.

yeah I hate to say it ... microwave images and satellite all show west 280 motion its just now reaching 16N .... earlier at the 5pm they had it too far north now its even farther north.. almost like they are trying to fit it with their forecast as to not be off ? something is not right here.

You know what else is weird? The 00Z CMC is on the SFWMD map and it doesn't even come out until after 1am.
