2012 started very active with 70 tornadoes in the U.S as of January 26th. Let's see how this season turns out to be down the road.

The warning sirens went off just before noon and a wall cloud passed directly over Mobile shortly thereafter. I saw over on Accuweather that it was visible on the weather cams. Luckily nothing touched down, but still it was enough to get the adrenaline pumping.

January 1999 was just INSANE, with 212 tornadoes. However, February was fairly quiet, with only about 15 tornadoes. January 2008 was definitely active as well, with 88 tornadoes. That February, on the strength of a huge outbreak to start the month, had a record 147 tornadoes. (Even without Super Tuesday it would have still been well above normal!)
Which way will February go?

2008 did not have the complete opposite for February as your second paragraph states. And remember, there is a "Super Tuesday" this year as well...will it turn out like 2008?
