Nothing I say is intended to be a forecast; it's only food for thought and friendly advice!

Looks ~150K ish... I may be missing some...are there multiple major power companies in NJ?
Yes. Down in Southern NJ there's Atlantic Electric and PSE&G. I forget the names of the ones in central and northern NJ.

CNN has tweeted that there are a confirmed 2.8 million w/out power in 11 states.
Storm chaser Johnny Kelly also tweets that there are numerous calls in NYC for water rescues.
EDIT: @twc_hurricane: "BREAKING: FDNY headquarters on Grand St. being evacuated by boat. #Sandy."

Not doubting you at all, but when making statements like this it would be nice if there were some numbers given and/or a link to the information.

Yes. JCP&L and PSEG are the two largest (note: PSEG serves a very densely populated area). There's also Orange Rockland Electric (relatively minor) and Atlantic City Electric.
Edit for map: http://www.njcleanenergy.com/files/imag ... ic_map.gif
THX
JCP&L up a little ~152K
PSEG's map sucks! It averages out to ~106K
