Seriously though, it does seem odd that they didn't try to go farther SW.

Looks like I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue.

THE PLANE
HAS HAD DIFFICULTY FIXING A CENTER...WITH THE WIND FIELD RESEMBLING
AN OPEN WAVE RATHER THAN A CLOSED CIRCULATION. HOWEVER...AIR SPACE
RESTRICTIONS PREVENTED THE PLANE FROM SAMPLING THE AREA FARTHER
SOUTH...SO IT IS INCONCLUSIVE AS TO WHETHER A CLOSED CIRCULATION
STILL EXISTS.

 ugh...darn airspace restrictions!

I manually added ob 23 into the system since it was missed.

Just so people know, missed obs can be added here by anyone:
http://tropicalatlantic.com/recon/addobservation/

Just add the link from here once the ob appears in this archive:
http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/archive/recon/2013/AHONT1/

In 2014, my recon system should be rewritten so that a check of that archive occurs automatically every so often.

The ones that prevented the HHs from going further south, and were mentioned in the NHC discussion?

Strange that the Hurricane Hunters were denied flying into certain airspace, especially considering they were in the middle of the Caribbean

Perhaps Edward Snowden is on his way down to Venezuela...
