That's the scenario that local mets are stating.

Can see convection beginning to pop near the center once again and also convective banding expanding well north and starting to fire west of the LLC.

I think karen will continue to strengthen as she pulls northward and slows down! There's going to be a bit of a battle between karen and the mid-level ridge to its east and north over the next 24-48 hrs which will slow down the storm, perhaps to less than 5 mph. The trough will start to exert its influence in the 60 hr period. The GOM is untapped (no storms) and shear, while increasing late in the period should not be a problem over the next 1-2 days.

So Dean, you think this will try and reorganize a tad to the west away from the main convection?

I am definitely liking the way it is shaping up now looking at visible. Every frame looks better for Karen IMO.
Much more action taking place by the center.

Karen needs to develop squalls near and all around the center for intensification. Currently, the center is exposed and all significant squalls are well to the southeast.

shes going to take off now she is moving away from the yucatan. Not saying cat 2-5 just that the land interaction is no longer inhibiting her.

Convection is rapidly waning and shear is having a major effect on it, doesn't look good at all.

shes catching her breath after being over the yucatan. give her a chance. it will be slow going but she will get it together. Slow going cuz of the moderate sheer.

I'd also note that ocean temps are fairly cool where she is at right now, on the north side of the Yucatan

Re: ATL: KAREN - Tropical Storm - Discussion
Could it be that Karen may have ingested some dry air some time over past few hours? It looks like some dry air has just been expelled to the east of what was the large convection area from IR sat image. The clouds being blown away from the storm. Now kind of appears like envelope is starting to expand to the west of storm.
