This is not correct. DFW averages 1.7 inches of snow per year (sleet and ice are bundled up with snow data). You have to remember where you live, in a post before I mentioned Dallas is in the same latitude as Macon, Charleston, Northern Africa. The fact that we get snowfall opportunities every year is a miracle in itself. DFW has never gone a year without at least a trace of snow. That's a tribute to being located in the middle of the continent and extreme weather the southern plains often sees. We can go a decade without seeing any kind of significant snowfall greater than 2 inches. Take example the 90s, only 1996 saw 2.4 inches while every other year that period was less than 1 inch. 3+ years of just a trace or less than inch of snow happens more often than you think in the past.
