It's not uncommon to have a chilly early Spring. For those concerned about the budding trees, I wouldn't worry too much if it's a light freeze, they should be fine. If the temp drops into the 20's however that's when they would see damage.

Let's not forget we are still in late winter. Meteorological Spring hasn't even arrived yet and for those that follow the season's change on the Equinox, then there is just under 4 weeks to go.

Looks like we'll be heading into the danger zone then tonight. We'll be in the low to mid 20's

51st freeze for DFW. Now sits with 1976-77 and 1983-84 regarding freezes.

GFS remains colder than the Euro for early next week.

The CFSV2 is still showing snow across much of the state and big snows to our north. I am having a hard time convincing myself that the frozen precip will make it this far south, but you never know this time of year. The GFS solution looks reasonable with storms on Sunday then some cold nights early next week.
BTW I was around 20 maybe a tad lower at my place this morning.

Last time I remember Lake Lavon being near to as low as it is now, we got deluge after deluge which filled it up quickly. The arc on the graph indicating it's water level was pretty steep. It got full so fast, the dam had to be opened. Let's hope we see a repeat.

We need a summer like '07 to relieve the drought. With population, fracking, etc. coupled with this drought, we're gonna need to build some desalinization plants to pipe water all over the state.

12Z GFS is backing off on the cold next week again. Some decent rain in Dallas-Ft. Worth this weekend, though.

I agree. Yesterday's 12Z GFS had a low of 26 in Houston next week. Today's is 10 degrees less cold (I hesitate to say "warmer").
