Remember, orangeblood, that this was not a area-wide coverage, it was a convective event (like thunderstorms, not everyone is going to get the inch of rain) I suspect that many areas that got impacted by the heavy sleet got more than 0.06" of liquid and the ratios between sleet to liquid is about 3:1 or so (from what I read). So I am assuming a lot of conflicting reports (where people got 0.50" sleet+ and some people got 0.10" of sleet or less).

Re: Texas Winter 2013-2014
Okay I know I said I was done posting in the winter thread but I can report that we are getting a wintery mix including small snow flakes in South Austin. Ive been outside moving plants inside and covering others and at first I thought I was just seeing things but sure enough I can confirm that it is snow. Its floating very lightly down and the flakes are tiny and obviously not sticking, but I never would have thought Id see snow falling in March here. I must say I knew this front was going to be cold with freezing temps but never thought it would be like this.

20 on a March afternoon at that! We're just so accustomed to strange cold this year to understand but in a few years we will look back and go, omg it did that in March???

Just think, if we had not had that front, and had rich gulf moisture in place with no cap, we're probably talking about a major severe weather event with this dynamic system. As Ntxw noted, Winter down low, Spring up top.

It's 17 in Denison with breaking clouds. We're aiming for single digits here tonight.
In March.

I agree, if the air wasn't so cold it would've been a decent severe weather outbreak. This probably the story of this spring, we may see several severe weather outlooks and potentials only to be undercut by fronts and cool air before the big ones fire. That's the unfortunate loss of such a cold regime from a cold winter as the source region takes awhile to warm up enough.
MOS, GFS, NAM all agree around 12-15F for the DFW area. Need clouds to clear and winds to calm a little for that 10F.

Hey hey now don't you be getting ideas into their heads! You can't reveal such things until it is time!

Spring is coming, enjoy the cold because it's probably the last time we see teens this winter. EPO is going to be positive once this week is over.

How much accumulation might be expected for Williamson County, just north of Austin?
