The 144 hour EURO run shows a rather potent 998 mb Low emerging into the Southern Plains. This is within a week away, but something for you all out in Texas to keep an eye on, especially with the potential of severe weather from this system is this run comes close to verifying.

I believe the bolded part also answers gpsnowman's question on the previous page.gpsnowman wrote:Another question. The freeze numbers, are they for just the DJF period or are the numbers from the start of winter to the end? We had freezes in November and obviously some to start March. Just didn't know if those were included in the overall totals. Thanks.
Does this mean Ntxw owes me two steaks now?????

(one being from a previous year)

This is a forum where we celebrate the cold weather of winter. There won't be any of that warming up talk around here! 12Z Euro is in now. It's still indicating 850mb temperature anomalies 2-4C below normal this Sunday and a big cool-down next Wednesday with anomalies 11-13C below normal. It even indicates a large area of 2-6" of snow across central Oklahoma on Sunday. No snow predicted across OK or TX with the bigger shot of cold air next Wednesday, but the models don't handle these systems out that far very well. Perhaps we'll see another ice/snow storm across Texas next week!

For this, I must protest. I must wonder, as I look outside, is my life upside down? I must ask, am I drunk? I must ponder, well how did I get here? I have no idea what the heck is going on. I must admit, I have totally lost my mind. Thank you Wxman 57. I am officially checking into the looney bin. Give my regards to the Gulf Freeway. Thanks.

Are you thinking just northern Texas for next week? If not, how far south?

Man, the GFS for 2609 hours doesn't have a cat 5 in the gulf.
What a lousy model

The 12Z euro has a system starting up just east of here, really wrapping up and becoming a monster up the east coast. We'd probably get another freeze on the backside of it, but that's about it. <.25 QPF for the entire run for most of Texas.
