He moved a little bit south. Needs to go back to Rodanthe.

He is probably safer in Waves. The island has been washed across just north of Rodanthe, and a number of homes lost there. It appears he is near a strong structure where he is. The ocean has taken a number of homes in Rodanthe.

Just N of Rodanthe is one of the narrowest parts of the OBX, and is surely overwashed now. This storm's path is going to wreck havoc on Hwy 12 down the islands, and could shut down the OBX (particularly the section S of Oregon Inlet) for the season. I can't wait to see what new inlets will open when the winds shift around and let the Pamlico Sound flow back against the islands.

Yep Kill Devil Hills is going have a rough go of it pretty soon, it amazing how Arthur has never been able to maintain a strong NE heading, he keeps wobbling north.

As a side note to the main activity, here in Greenville things have been pretty calm all night. I just got home from work, and we really only had a couple of torrential downpours lasting 10 minutes or so throughout the evening. Very little wind as well. At about 12:45 am things did start to pick up a bit rain and wind wise, and it's been raining here pretty steady since then. Plus we've had a bit more wind. Pressure is at 1010.

Manteo is on Roanoke Island, and its likely to see some damage. Near there, Pirates Cove sits out in a marsh, and has one of the largest marinas on the North Carolina Coast. Even Kitty Hawk and Duck are beginning to look like they could see damage if the track continues.

Yep, WNCT is talking right now about how this north wobble will bring the stronger part of the eyewall over a more densely populated area.

Looks like that strong SE part of the eyewall is wrapping around to the north.

Looks like it could be back over water by 5 at the present speed of movement.

They said Manteo, Kill Devil Hills and some of the other towns in that general vicinity are more densely populated, not necessarily that a lot of people live there but that it was more "packed" I guess.

Looks to have taken a jog to the east on radar. May not be on land much longer.

I' m sure I heard the place before on this thread...

Its a collection of communities: Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk, Southern Shores, Duck, Pine Island, Currituck Beaches, and Corolla. There could easily be approximately 300,000 people here, and these communities were not evacuated. This is a 30 mile long by varying widths of development from the ocean to the sound, single family homes, townhouses, condos, hotels, a few campers, and planned unit developments. Much of it is served by one two lane road.

On the plus side, it definitely doesn't appear to be strengthening anymore.

Considering it will be over more and more water very, very shortly, it actually looks good in my opinion:

Mark from hurricanetrack.com getting gusts up to 79mph right now. Not exactly sure where he located, he's moved around a bit.

It's biding its time and patiently waiting for the soon-to-arrive water so as not to draw suspicion  .
Eye is also showing up very nicely on Virginia radar and doesn't appear to really be weakening much if at all.
