Looks like WXman57 would have to head to Belize to avoid the cold if those maps come true.

Be on alert this afternoon, everyone. The SPC has a 5% tornado risk for north Texas, which includes Dallas.

The GFS Ensemble Means are still advertising a pattern change starting around Christmas and by the end of December a locking ridge is in Alaska...The AO should tank with those high 500mb Anomalies in the high latitudes.
500mb Anomalies Wednesday December 24

500mb Anomalies Tuesday December 30

12Z GFS Control is REALLY interesting right before Christmas (going negative tilt in the perfect slot along the Texas Coast)...if correct, I would suspect wide spread precip (possibly wintry) across the state with that storm

Sorry about that, I was unaware of the policy change from last year

What range? If the pattern is McFarland in late Dec that would be some very cold air potentially coming down.
After the Christmas storm (this one needs to be watched carefully) passes the 500mb flow buckles in the Pacific in tandem. Continues to the New Year.

It's beginning to feel a lot like it may feel a lot like Christmas right after Christmas.

GFS is showing cross polar flow from Siberia but no massive high. I guess give it sometime and if the pattern holds, it will show a big HP eventually. The PGFS shows a mean southern plains storm 10 days out

Skip Kordas, Meteorologist for Channel 12 Shreveport, said on the Channel 12 weather segment that their proprietary Weather model was predicting snow for the 23rd of December from a line from Dallas to Shreveport and points north of there.

Setup looks great in the Upper Levels, just not sure if we can get it cold enough at the surface quite yet...would be a bonus to get a winter storm before Christmas, our fun should begin shortly after!
