March can have freezes. The last time it happened was in 2002. There was even snow in 1932.

Re: Texas Winter 2014-2015
I'm done maybe it'll snow when I give up...
I've seen a lot of bad winters in Alabama in my 26 years but this first one in Texas is one of the worst I have watched unfold. It's not the fact it hasn't snowed I get that its rare here... It was all the hype to start the winter, the snow and sleet in November which I cannot believe was it... And then all the threats in January that faded to a boring cold rain. This event i never was real impressed with but its just more of the same.

Northern Alabama is about to see some wintry precip as early as late tonight Brent, but highly likely on tomorrow as the storm system developing currently will move across the Deep South during the next 36 hours. Much of the Tennessee Valley and possibly the Mid Atlantic could see accumulations with this system and freezing rain is possible in some areas as well.

NEVER, EVER SAY NEVER in the tropics and weather in general, and most importantly, with life itself!!

It's not bad enough apparently that this winter has been the proverbial "two weeks out" tease ... but now even my local AFDs are referencing snow when the air would be cold enough but WHY IT WON'T HAPPEN. Cruelty ... this is just cruelty.
From EWX's afternoon AFD:
SOME REMNANT MOISTURE AND RETURN ENERGY IS BEING ADVERTISED IN
THE ECMWF AND TO A LESSER EXTENT THE GFS THAT WOULD BE PRODUCING
LIGHT RAIN AND EVEN POSSIBLE A FLURRY OR TWO FOR THE NORTHERN
BORDER OF OUR CWA. HOWEVER...THE ATMOSPHERE BELOW 700 MB IS QUITE
DRY AND CONFIDENCE IN ANY PRECIP AT ALL IS LOW. THEREFORE DID NOT
INCLUDE ANYTHING BEYOND RW-- FOR MONDAY NIGHT.

Let's not forget the early March freeze of last year, where it got down to 17F in Addison, after everything had started growing. I lost more plants and trees that week than any freeze of the previous 25 years.

This is exactly why this winter has been so ugly for me... The almost events the close calls the "if it was only a couple degrees colder" I'm so over it... No threats would be so much better.
The Alabama event is a far cry from what it was the other day... The models had a big snow and now its just some brief ice before it goes to rain mostly... Ugly. But hey.. I'm not missing anything by being here lol

The hedges in front of my house are dead because of that freeze.

I am not a meteorologist, and any posts made by me are not official forecasts or to be interpreted as being intelligent. These posts are just my opinions and are probably silly opinions.

Man, this place is a real Debbie downer lately. ..we're only half way through February, all it takes is one good storm to get above normal snowfall around here. Stay optimistic people, Euro ensembles have some crazy snow scenarios over the next couple of weeks!!

I lost all of my Sago fronds on my two Sagos in that freeze. But got new growth this past year. Looks as good as before.
There are flowers blooming in my neighborhood. Seriously?!?!

Still looks like some freezing rain and sleet on the back edge of the precip tomorrow morning.

The front looks to be 3 hours ahead of schedule around DFW. It will be interesting to see how this affects the sleet and ice potential.
And it looks like the models have fully settled on the idea that there will not be enough moisture left behind for even flurries Tuesday morning.. maybe we can get lucky with a bit of moisture and song forcing, but that is stretching it.

Re: Texas Winter 2014-2015
Sorry if my rants were a bit much earlier... clearly this winter has been irritating but I probably went a little overboard because I was annoyed at work lol. I mean clearly none of our setups this winter ever looked that good once it got into forecasting range so there was no real devastating surprises(which I've seen more than I care to recall in my years in Alabama too) but even still it just leaves a bad taste up til now the way it's all went down given all the preseason talk. This has just been a tough winter for me to deal with and I'm not really sure why... I haven't missed out on something in Alabama(which was my big fear this winter lol), so I'm not sure why it's bothering me so much. Maybe I'm spending too much time worrying about it.
I do really have to back off this whole getting caught up in model snowstorms though... it's a bad habit of mine that needs fixing and that's the main source of why I get irritated.

Freezing rain and drizzle here. Looks like not much ice accumulation is expected, so that's definitely a good thing.
