It possibly could be SouthDadeFish. But it sure looks decent on radar. Still , I am leaning towards that being the LLC. Just my thoughts.
Actually you may be right. The reason I thought it was an eddy at first is because it didn't seem like a closed circulation at the time, but radar is looking better and recon is losing the center to the south. Good call.
Still a mess!

NHC will probably stay with the HH, they did finally find a wind shift.

Based on recent Dvorak position, satellite, and assumed WNW motion... Erika should in theory slide just north of Hispaniola... Crazy??

I hope they investigate the area just west of St Croix before the 11 PM update, that's where they should find a more define circulation and lower pressures, IMO.

Nice little circulation skirting just south of PR. Don't know if this feature will be the main player. Just some welcome rains in PR I hope.....MGC

In agreement with some, this could very well be an eddy rotating around a larger circulation based on its fast movement towards the W.

I should have never left the eddy bandwagon

It is embedded in a cyclonic flow and racing off to the west as it rotates around the north side of the broader vortex.

Something I'm noticing here is that the local news stations are really downplaying this. Advising people not to board up or go overboard preparing which is unheard of, any South Florida resident can tell you about the frenzied news coverage we get whenever we enter the Cone of Doom. Not this time, though, quite the opposite.
Local mets are doubtful this will make it to Florida at all. Being the panicky, neurotic person I am, I am already well prepared.
Just thought that was very interesting and I'm hoping they're right.
Thoughts are with those dealing with this now.
Welcome! Good post.

Yeah recon recently found some northwest winds south of PR. Area west of St. Croix isn't it.

Seem to be learning too much to the point where my brain overloaded and is probably offline.
What's an eddy and what does it do in this situation?

A place I would look is where the Dvorak puts it as the plane also found a windshift there
