TSUNAMI WARNING FOR WEST COAST

TSUNAMI WARNING FOR WEST COAST
An 8.0 earthquake occured near Hokaido, japan earlier today. This is what is called a "GREAT QUAKE", capable of producing a tsunami. Therefore Tsunami warnings have been posted for the entire West coast. The following link will give you more information.

Updating this after further investigation.
No tsunami reported at this time. It is a watch for the Aleutian Islands in AK and for information only for the rest of the west coast. Checking further to be sure. Sorry if we caused any alarm!!!

Thanks for the info..I read it twice before I understood it.. BTW they don't know if a wave is coming. so how could they know where it's going :o .So the heads up for all the west coast is a good Idea IMHO..Thanksvbhoutex wrote:Updating this after further investigation.

Not sure about a volcano in the Appalachians, but there is a dormant one located in the Waddy-Peytona area of KY, near Shelbyville. Last time I drove by (years ago), there was a radio tower on top of it. I'm gonna dig through the net and see if I can find a reference to it.

Report from Los Angeles area:
Seems a lot of people are still not aware of the earthquake that occured in Japan. Will let you know if the advisory is upgraded to a watch or warning. I only know of one other occasion when a tsunami watch was issued for the west coast on June 23, 2001, but there was no tsunami.
Estimated arrival time of any tsunami is between 11-midnight PDT, so have lots of time to watch.
