Looking at radar, looks like no EWRC

This post was probably an opinion of mine, and in no way is official. Please refer to http://www.hurricanes.gov for official tropical analysis and advisories.

thats pulling threads.. the core continues to produce deeper convection and become more established. you can also follow a continuous band without a break feeding the eyewall. not quite there yet.

You picked the track from the getgo well done. Nobody i think wants to see this any stronger
than it now.
Eh I am more into model recognition. The Euro spit out that anomalous run and I latched onto it alsa IKE in 2008...nothing special just recognizing the pattern and averaging the models runs..one day on my death bed I will let 2k know my secret..

My theory on why this doesn't "bomb" is it has been dealing with southwesterly midlevel shear. This same thing happened to an eastern pacific hurricane earlier this year, Ike 2008, Gustav 2008, Rita 2005 and Frances 2004. This causes the system to keep having EWRC's as it forces "drier air" into the core.
This could very well strengthen slowly to a major before landfall of course...Ike couldn't quite do it after Cuba landfall.
The midlevel shear map on cimss also shown this earlier.

overall inner structure continues to improve and deepen as well as satellite.

Yep. IR shows a rapidly warming eye. Almost completely clear.

Um hold the phone there bub..Rita turned north and swallowed a load of dry air and killed her, Ike never recovered from Cuba had had a double wind maximum until it got close to Galveston and started to strengthening...let's do our homework

And that eyewall on radar is looking nasty. Some high reflectivity showing up in there now.

Are y'all just using NHC radar or is there better? I would prefer better. lol

Nah I'm using Gibson ridge radar. You gotta pay for it, but it's the best radar out there. http://www.grlevelx.com/
Wunderground and NWS have good (free) radars too though.

there are of course various public progrms that provide high level data. its not free though but also not expensive. GRLEVEL is your best bet.
there are also many websites that offer good quality product..

The void to the southwest on radar?
Eyewall expanding? Will that fill back in?

thats very normal. it will come and go depending convective bursts.. you see it less in a mature hurricane.
but on another side note.. radar showing the eyewall deepening drastically .. the ingredients are there..

That eyewall is becoming scary now.. evacuations are going to become very difficult tomorrow since it will be getting so close and getting stronger..
