The major drought will end tonight/tomorrow. Now we can focus on the real impact of Harvey which is water. Damaging surge and catastrophic (even Biblical) flooding from rainfall will be how Harvey is remembered.

VDM also indicates EWRC has been completed, with a giant, circular eye now in place. This could go all the way to Category 4.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

Eyewall is getting more and more intense by the minute, that slot caused by structural changes is getting mixed out.

Just need to get 10 more knots and we will have a Cat 4.

Indeed. This is very likely to be a strengthening storm through landfall, and it's core may hold together fairly well for the first 24 hours or so. We shall see. JMO

God bless the people on the Texas Coast who are there to ride out the hurricane, this will be a historic hurricane, and it will not be quick to leave either!

To get a cat 4, the winds have to respond quicker than they currently are. But we may get a cat.4-esque pressure reading before landfall.

I think winds not responding earlier was because of the mixed structure during EWRC. This may bump up another 5-10 mph just based on consolidation of the new eye wall IMO.

Isn't the pressure already there? 943mb on the last update.

Yea, I wouldn't bet on a category 4. Winds are definitely taking their time making their way down to the surface. Might see another 5 MPH bump though.

On another board someone posted this: Recon recommending upgrade to 131 mph at 5pm per Corpus Christi met on live stream for Kiii News. Take it for what it's worth.

We only need 11 MPH to be Cat 4, so that isn't that far of a stretch.

Harry already has CAT 4 pressure readings (albeit right on the edge)

Something's wrong with the NOAA sat floater page, I get " [an error occurred while processing this directive]"
Does anyone have the direct link to the Harvey floater? Thanks!
EDIT: Never mind, it's back up. Just too much traffic I guess.

In the EPac it's usually in the sub 940s, not sure if its different for the Atlantic.

Did the NOA plan miss the center? Looks like the center jump a bit north?

Lots can change between now and 5pm, so we probably should take that with a grain of salt.
