For those of you in the path of Irma the NWS has a great page called Weather and Hazards Data Viewer.
You just click the forecast tab, enter the parameter and time and click on the map.

The 7 mile bridge is taking a beating. If damaged, the lower Keys will only be accessable by boat and those storm chasers will be stuck.

Once everything clears, my wife and I have decided to sail back to Key West.

Irma looks like is going to be making landfall east of Key West, closer to the GFS track, it also looks like it sped up a little bit.

The gap in recon is rather frustrating. Was there an equipment failure of some sort?

They are following the official NHC track & forecast, but they did mention a little while ago that it has been moving more NNW during the past couple of hours or so.

Not a good time for that to happen. Plus we really need good data while it is over the open water between the Keys and Naples.
