That's what it looks like to me. Very interesting. It happened quickly.

looks like I'll wait awhile before I take down my porch ceiling fans... no need to if it hits to my east... which would be just fine by me...

Come on now Frank you said the other day a little eyewall be just fine as long it's no Cat2 or more been since Georges.:)

Ceiling fans rated for about sustained 50 mph winds, at 51 mph, they all get sheared off... lessons learned Jav... cheaper to take em down than to buy new ones! 8-)

Angle of approach on this next center dive by recon seems to indicate they noticed a significant north of west jog.

Anyone believe this will head to SWLA/SETX? Can't find any models on its path.

The consensus is the northern gulf coast between coastal Mississippi and coastal Alabama. Please go to www.nhc.noaa.gov for more information.

And that is why you always need more RECON baby... sometimes sat and radar loops just don't tell the whole story

That center fix had surface winds of 11kts and was right when the center seemed to relocate north and east.

Recon hasn't reached the center on this pass yet in that image.

Recon turning hard north. Perhaps looking for better center fix?

Yep. They had unflagged SFMR of 40 kts on that pass. It appears to be north of them.

Looks like the hit the center to me which jumped north a little. Also weaker. Satellite is playing tricks on us again. 1006mb.

Looking at visible sat it looks like the center is exposed to the SW of the blob of storms. Just my opinion.

I don't think so. The 1006 was measured with 39 KT of wind at the surface. It's kind of a strange wind distribution with calmer wind at flight level.. Almost like a quasi stadium effect where you can technically be in the eye at flight level and have part of the eyewall below you.

Or just tilted by land interaction and shear. Which is far more likely given how shredded this weak system is.

wondering if Gordon is no longer stacked, and that is the mid level going off to the north and the low level still moving NW... speculation on my part but he sure does not look good on the sat loops as he had earlier..mho
