Re: Texas Winter 2018-2019
I’m up to 33.1 in North FW but my station is higher than standard. There is a glaze that has gotten stronger and heavier on trees and our decorations still up. So, it might be hanging on to 32 still.
I am in between Meacham and Alliance, so most likely same situation here based upon it still freezing on trees.

Pulling for a temp bust today (altough, freezing rain is NOT fun). Would be nice to keep temps around or below freezing throughout the day and night tonight before the potential snow transition tomorrow morning/afternoon. Still 32 here in Justin with ice on elevated surfaces.

Warm nose isn't as deep as modeled freezing rain sleet and snow in North West Durant

Snow chances seem to be increasing for tomorrow. We shall see. Temps need to stay down today and tonight. We will see what the Euro model says soon.

When do the wsw come out or isw? Nws Norman has a quarter inch of ice forecast in Durant and up to 3 inches of snow I expect that to increase!

I work just southwest of 820 and I 35W, and the trees are starting to droop from ice. Now I’m looking at that from the fourth floor of my building. But icing pretty good on the top of the trees.

Roads are still good which I am happy about, commute to Frisco would be a nightmare even if just the bridges start freezing over. TxDot is handling this amount of ice really well though.

Looks like very cold rain for the D-FW Metroplex. Only cold rain here in Houston (50 deg). Winter bad, summer good...

Yea this air mass is deeper and colder than the models are showing. Surface temps are running 2-6 degrees warm on the Euro vs reality. There is no reason to even look at the globals for this event at this point, though even the meso and hi res models are running warm. HRRR is doing terrible on temps. NAM and RGEM are at least close but still too warm.

It’s really strange to see every single model incorrect with temperatures, especially by this much. Wonder what’s causing that...and what that entails for the next 36 hours...

I am interested to see what the sounding at noon indicate as far as mid level cold. Not sure if the warm nose is as pronounced as expected.

Hardly had any icing here in Grayson county earlier this morning, but in the past hour everything is freezing up and icicles forming. Thought the temp was rising but apparently not.

I have no idea. My head has been in the South Pacific with two cyclones there and the southern South China Sea with TS Pabuk (since 4:30 this morning). I only just glanced at the surface map for Texas. I don't even know where Durant, OK is. Does 3-6 inches sound good?

Models typically fail in predicting temperatures when precip is falling. They're always too warm, not taking the constant rain into consideration.

I think my earlier talk may prove wrong luckily. Could only see 34 today or possibly 33 if lucky. Temp has barely budged.

Durant is somewhat near the Texoma border I think. Saw that there is currently some snow there right now, so who knows. Any accumulation is probable at this rate and with temperatures so uncertain, who knows what could happen.
