So...one thing I've been hearing a lot about Houston's weather in the recent month is about capping inversions, and I have heard that's why spring severe weather in Houston tends not to include all the really powerful tornadoes you see further up north in Texas. But this makes me wonder...what exactly causes this capping inversion to begin with, and why is it stronger in Southeast Texas versus further inland/north?
(This might seem kind of random but I've been sitting on a LOT of weather-related questions lately because I haven't had any good opportunities to ask them...and since a lot of people are talking about SE Texas severe weather seems a good time to ask.)

I know I can't straddle the atmosphere...just a tiny storm in your teacup, girl.
