Another look at the radar this morning, neat seeing the vorticity taking shape all the sudden.

Ridge of 5000 CAPE air to the SW is feeding this.

Definitely a surface circulation trying to get going this morning just offshore of Sabine Pass.

I would go somewhere in this area for it to close off. greatest curvature and also where the mid level vort is and the deepest convection..

Surface obs along the coast showing sudden shift in winds from S to NE.
Out to sea, winds maintaining SW.

I have to hand it to the Mesoscale models they have been doing well with these close in systems.

Looks like something is very rapidly taking shape in the area I circled. surface obs are slowly shifting to something in that area.. and radar is showing increased rotation.

Yep, is developing even further offshore than I thought giving it more time over water.

Very weak low south of Sabine Pass. Should be inland this afternoon. NHC isn't even mentioning this disturbance. Looking like all the rain will miss me to the east. :cry:

Appears to be 90L now; Special TWO issued

Surface observations and satellite imagery indicate that a low pressure area has formed just off the upper Texas and southwestern Louisiana coasts. The associated shower and thunderstorm activity shows signs of organization. However, the system is likely to move inland over eastern Texas and western Louisiana before significant development can occur. Regardless of development, this system is expected to bring locally heavy rains to portions of Louisiana and eastern Texas during the next day or two.
* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...10 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...low...10 percent.
