Non-Tropical Low South of Nova Scotia
This low is at least somewhat interesting. Currently it is a cold-core extratropical low, but a few hours ago some central convection developed near the center. Some models (such as the GFS and CMC) have shown this system acquiring some subtropical characteristics over the next few days. It probably won't amount to anything, but it's interesting for April nonetheless.

Re: Non-Tropical Low South of Nova Scotia
This system is quite well-organized, and I'm a little surprised that the NHC hasn't made note of this in a special tropical weather outlook. Model trends have been a little more unfavorable regarding the system's future organization, but I think the system's convection at its center of circulation now speaks for itself. Here's a plot of an airmass RGB composite and GFS forecast wind barbs and 850hPa temperatures at 18z. As the core of the system continues to barrel around, it should continue separating farther from that front, which seems to have been transitioning into a baroclinic zone without much of a wind shift out there.

I suppose NHC staff are working from home. Would that affect their decision to initiate advisories on an STS? I would think that they could remotely connect to their workstations to send out an advisory. It may affect Bermuda on Saturday.

Heck, looking at the latest imagery and presentation, this system darn sure looks fairly close to being STS tonight. Impressive early season cyclone.

Looks like it was there if it could have maintained. Still a chance maybe if it swings back to the South.
