Mid level eye feature being picked up nicely on radar, wrapping convection around now.

I think it’s possible but not probable. Most of the bad stuff should be from Corpus Christi to Brownsville.

the plane is flying many times that height and they dont due that much reduction..
besides.
here is the exact ship.. pretty sure the anemometer is on the front of the ship above the bridge not at 89 meters..
and also pretty sure the reduction is minimal at that point.

Yeah it seems like the low level circ sped up a little over night and caused some slight shear. all models forecast it to slow down to a crawl..
still has a lot of time to become a hurricane.

89 meters seem to be way too high to put anemometer on a ship.

Always fascinating to see Recon data come in during a mission, especially when it’s an important mission like this one close to land. It’s great to be back on the fourm. I’ve been around though. The season so far has been, well, active. Especially with daredevil Gonzalo.

Really hoping I can get some decent rain here in Tomball. Guess it will all depend on where the feeder bands set up as this gets closer to the coast?

This oil rig ( 98 ft)
pressure 1002 mb in western eyewall. looks to take a direct hit from the center.
given the pressure field from the plane I would say we see the pressure drop to 998 or 999 at this station.

She’s getting better, but convection needs to continue wrapping around the exposed parts in the north if she wants to get to 60-70 kt. Reminds me of the structure of Halong last year when it was a new TS.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

ICON and CMC have been showing that too since Tuesday. Leftover or split energy or perhaps something to do with the next wave and surge coming across.
We have some feeder band moisture building overhead in Pensacola.

12z microwave pass shows a pretty good partial eyewall already.

She is definitely trying..
lets see what happens as she slows down and turns wsw.. if that convection trying to wrap around can close off the moisture loops she might pop some deep towers on the west side.

According to the schedule, an AF HH was suppose to take off about an hour ago. Haven't seen any indication of that yet. Any info?

definitely. if the turn to the wsw is delayed.. then it would be coming it pretty much straight west from here.
