Current pressure probably around 994-995. the Noaa plane isn't too far off thus far with extrap pressures. seems like the errors happen at deeper levels

Latest data, even if incomplete, supports 55 kt at least.

My goodness that is impressive. Hard to determine the exact LLC from that. Going to be interesting to see if Laura is truly having more of a more northerly component in her movement. Could have implications down the road. We'll see. i say somewhere between Lafayette and Lake Charles.

What is funny about this data?
4 clicks north....6 clicks west. No change in direction.

Like I said, nothing but southerly winds and much higher pressures where they estimated the CoC to be.

the center jogged northeast of the little island (trying to avoid land as much as possible XD) and now appears to be heading westerly over Cuba. neat stuff

gatorcane wrote:Laura certainly looks like she is going to be a problem for someone along the NW Gulf coast. One thing to watch is just how much the Saharan air layer currently to the north over Florida as seen on this loop might impact how strong she gets in the GOM. The skies are hazy in South Florida due to the SAL and it looks to be heading west. Hoping that there is just enough over the GOM to hold her back from bombing out:

That map you keep posting is NOT Saharan Air Layer.

Florida is flat, and it doesn’t help that it goes through wetlands.

I always forget she hit Florida first, it was very uneventful in palm beach. Did she get stronger? We also don’t have mountains, we’re a giant swamp.
