Has the Atlantic ever had a sub 900 mb landfall anywhere before?

2020 is just a nightmare.
The nightmare no one wants to see ever again, 2005 was a nightmare Atlantic Hurricane Season, but 2005 will be nothing compared to this. . .

Re: ATL: ETA - Hurricane - Discussion: AF Plane decending to operational altitud
Iceresistance wrote:Eta is at least 50-80 miles farther south than the NHC track expected.
Yes clearly something unforseen is going on with the track as well as the intensity. It probably wouldn't have gotten this strong if it had continued west or west-southwestward due to increasing land interaction.
Also, it apparently did do one trochoidal loop a little earlier as it turned south-southwestward at a decent clip. But overall it still looks like it may have stalled. It will turn westward again when the high to the north and northwest stops building but until then it has to go even more south or stall out. Either scenario will not allow it to weaken much in the short term.

Probably not too bad at higher altitudes.
Higher altitudes are far worse. Flight level winds are always higher than on the surface.
To a point. North of 850-800 hpa winds start to decrease

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

My posts are my own personal opinion, defer to the National Hurricane Center (NHC) and other NOAA products for decision making during hurricane season.

Wow this recon mission is going to hit Eta at it's likely peak, and with raw T#s beating Patricia....

I work for a local TV news station here, I couldn't help but roll my eyes as our news department was still reporting it as a tropical storm at 11 AM CST because that was the last update from network.

Hard to guess the pressure/wind relationship here so I'm giving up on giving an estimate lol.

Not a meteorologist, in fact more of an idiot than anything. You should probably check with the NHC or a local NWS office for official information.

I'm going 175 knots/879 mb. This is unreal.

Do not take anything I say seriously as a form of meteorological prediction. I am not a meteorologist; I don't think being in law school translates to any special knowledge. I am just a somewhat bullish amateur watcher.
