And we are out again, this sucks. Guess we need to make coffee and cook real quick between blackouts.

At least the sun will be up soon and the snow will melt as we rise into the 70's. These Texas snowstorms only last a day.

Haha, oh I know. Just a tongue and check comment.

Man. The wind is howling out there.

My house drops 4-5 degrees but makes temp or close to it with the 30min of on time. Wish they would do 15 off 45 on......

Looking at the Ercot App today is not going to be good......

The expected demand is way over capacity.

I sure hope everyone stays safe.

This one has been the longest thus far. Oncor said they can last up to 60min.

Just called the outage #

Humbling experience for sure. Stay warm!

Just absolutely nuts what is going on. DFW was 4" at midnight before the last batch came through and if I've gotten 2-3 inches more from it, clearly they got some too. But again the snow recording/data at the airport is just .

6F :cold:. Coldest temperature so far at DFW since December 1989. It may drop a few more by sunrise given the cold air advection going.

Made an edit above, was told 60min is possible.

First blackout was 90 min. The second one about half an hour. I have a giant AGM battery with a kWh of capacity to smooth things out. Charge it while power is on, run the inverter during blackouts

I think something strange is going on with your power. Knock on wood, I haven't lost mine at all so far. I'm not sure why you would be losing yours over and over and over, that doesn't seem right.

There have been people reporting the same incidents sporadically in far North Dallas as well. I think it's just poorly timed/implemented on top of the fact that at the same it is so cold once they do it, equipment can fail. You have something running like butter and all of a sudden trip it. Snow and wind (DFW still gusting over 30mph) is not helping!

Same here -- just east of downtown Dallas. There is a fire station a couple streets away so maybe I’m on some kind of protected grid?

Probably just jinxed myself!

Yeah it's sounding like something happened perhaps equipment failure once they rolled the blackout for you guys. Just unacceptable. Please find a way to stay warm.

FWIW if you decide to venture out to see the additional snow depth wind chills are -10 to -15F. That's dangerous so make sure every bit is covered up. Or better yet don't go out until the sun makes an appearance.

ERCOT has ordered rolling black outs for various locales across Texas. Just be aware and prepared. And of course as some tweeters and some of our members have pointed it as not been consistent.

Which if that's the case what get priority to be fixed?

Can those guys fix and work in the cold like this?

At what point do we try and get out to be somewhere with heat?

This is crazy. I've got a few supplies and think we will be fine but oh boy.

Question, if I cut my water do I then just run it in the house till the lines are empty?

Will hot water empty from the tank?

I have a main cutoff in the flowerbed
