Re: When will Ida form?
If August 21-31 is not the answer, I would be beyond shocked.
Also, just curious, but is there a reason why "this season will end with Henri" is even a choice? Is it just for the trolls?

Unless explicitly stated, all info in my posts is based on my own opinions and observations. Tropical storms and hurricanes can be extremely dangerous. Do not think you can beat Mother Nature. Refer to an accredited weather research agency or meteorologist if you need to make serious decisions regarding an approaching storm.

August 21-31.
I was halfway tempted to vote for "the season will end with Henri" just for the reaction.

August 21-31. Why do I have a feeling that Grace is going to bomb out later and that Ida is going to be ugly too?

Re: When will Ida form?
Also August 21-31st. Seems unlikely that anything else will form within the next 4 days, but long-range models and the ensembles suggest the yearly bell ringing will signal more storms.
We might need to watch the wave currently SSW of the Cape Verde islands to see if it gets organized quickly and starts developing without much model support like Grace’s precursor.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

Re: When will Ida form?
I had August 21st-31st for Henri but 96L/TD8 scooped that up, so ill go again for that timeframe with Ida the notorious I Storm. Given the date it should be AEW based also, we'll see

I always have a bad feeling about "I" storms. 11 retired "I" named storms more than any other letter retired storms include Isabel, Ivan, Ike, Irene, and Irma.captainbarbossa19 wrote:August 21-31. Why do I have a feeling that Grace is going to bomb out later and that Ida is going to be ugly too?

Iota too (even the Greek alphabet is subject to this curse), with Imelda and Isaias being close calls. I swear, sometimes I wonder if we should just ban I names from being assigned to storms altogether and instead skip from H names to J names. It almost feels like Mother Nature has a built-in mechanism to always make the I storm the worst.

I want to take into account the 1/10⁹⁹⁹ possibility the climate models bust and we end up with a Super El Niño for the rest of the season.
