Re: Texas Winter 2021-2022
The 30s (39 or lower) line now stretches from Sherman, Denton, FTW, Granbury, Stevensville, to Brownwood.
Currently 42 @ DFW, 41 @ Love Field
I would say the 32 line would be along this same line by 4pm.

Take any of my forecasts with a grain of salt, refer to the NWS, SPC, and NHC for official information

Does Upsur Electric co-op have their own linemen, or do they use Oncor?
I haven't been in this industry long enough to know that. I'm going to bet it Oncor.

Weather geek and a storm spotter in West Austin. Not a degreed meteorologist. Big snow fan. Love rain and cold! Despise heat!

Euro reduces snowfall totals a bit, but it's been so inconsistent, hard to take much stock into it. Seems the high-res should be more the focus now.

There are two massive pines near our house in HLR. A branch falling down could do some serious damage. Hoping the freezing rain there is light.

Tulsa saying up to 10 inches possible now that's the highest they've had since the warning went up
was 8 earlier

It expanded 2" line further east close to 75 while reducing Tarrant county a bit (from 6z). It's about banding and where the heavy qpf is run to run. Not bad though.

Rockwall ISD has done the same. News came out at 11am. Both Thursday and Friday.
Yep, my kids will be thrilled! I'm actually hoping the school doesn't tell them so I can wake them up early and make them get all ready to go

I'm definitely hoping for a quicker change over to snow, not a fan of ice!

18Z SFC analysis with freezing line. Leading edge of front is eroding away. Reinforcing surge of cold air is on the way. Freezing line is not pushing southeast very rapidly toward the DFW area, but it will get there this evening, right on schedule. I'm still trying to keep the sub-freezing temps out of SW Houston tomorrow night during the light precip. I have nowhere to go, though. It's 68 right now in SW Houston and I have my desk heater going, trying to keep warm. Glad I'm not up north in D-FW.

Warm nose appears to be flattening very slightly with each run too. Was just comparing the sounding over Dallas at 9pm on the 15z vs 17z runs

Latest (12Z) GFS precip maps. Still looks like y'all might get a little winter weather up in the D-FW area and eastern Oklahoma. I want my 80F+ temps back after this!

Re: Texas Winter 2021-2022
Since winter storm's are named now, it appears this one is named Winter Storm Landon. Got an email from Fedex about it:
Winter Storm Landon
Wednesday, February 2, 2022
The FedEx meteorology and operations teams are closely monitoring Winter Storm Landon as it develops across the Central United States. The storm could create hazardous conditions for our team members and their safety remains our number one priority.

It's hard to get these companies to fix something like that before it becomes a problem. We make recommendations all the time for coops to fix issues we find, rarely do that act on those.

Centerpoint does a great job of regular tree pruning down here. Every year they get trimmed. We have a lot of trees and they learned their lesson after Ike.
