This is about to get wild

This may be the biggest snowstorm I've truly ever seen(I saw a blizzard when I was 4 in Alabama but I barely remember that)

Latest RAP gives metroplex half a foot of snow. Faster transition.

Looks like the 18z GFS is coming in a little colder.

Hard to believe 6.8” is in addition to the sleet/ice. But with the forecasted qpf it’s possible

Yeah I had to double check but that's all after the sleet. Crazy run and Hrrr trying same. It's the qpf.

Also short range GFS is either going to score a coup or lose because run after run it wants single digits and lower in some cases over the ice pack.

So you're thinking not a huge deal for Houston, outside of elevated roadways and bridges maybe?

My only concern for Houston area would be some ice on bridges and overpasses Friday morning. No concerns about losing power.

They just sounded the alarm for us in Houston! I am in a panic as last night and this morning they said it was cold for one night now suddenly all above 59 expect ice. Omg!!! We are all electric and on well water! What a nightmare!!!

Do not panic. This is not last February. Accumulations of freezing rain will not likely be heavy enough to cause power issues. Expect to be below freezing for 12 to possibly 18 hours, mostly without precipitation falling.

Current surface analysis with freezing line indicated. Freezing line is very slow to move southeastward. Deeper cold air west of DFW.

My work just gave me Thursday and Friday off and my daughter is out of school. The Mrs. was able to get a hotel room where she works so it will be a treat watching this unfold with my daughter. Storm2k,winter weather, and beer for a couple days. Could be worse.

Freezing line will be moving through Denton here shortly as the slow march across the metroplex is underway.

WXMAN why does it look like me being in Victoria south of houston is going to be colder than you guys? Does that mean more frozen precip for me and more ice chances?

Is that freezing line on schedule, delayed, early? I can't find Texas Snow's graphic with the timings.

We're down to 36 in Rockwall.
