I'd guess low-end Category 3. Would still completely outstrip Charley

Do not take anything I say seriously as a form of meteorological prediction. I am not a meteorologist; I don't think being in law school translates to any special knowledge. I am just a somewhat bullish amateur watcher.

My aunt just texted my mother asking if she thinks she’ll still be able to go to her vacation in Naples this weekend.

Doesn’t look likely at this time, NHC has 75kt at its closest approach to Orlando. Winds rapidly dropping on radar. Forecast might further shift east if model trends continue. Best to prepare anyway though

I have been following this site for the last couple of years. Thank you for all the information. Maybe you can help me now. I am in contact with a person who needs rescue in Cape Coral. I saw the list of folks in Naples. Is there something like this for Cape?

Reports of "multiple fatalities" in Lee County. This is from a question from the media during the press conference. :(

You need to contact local authorities, unless someone here happens to have a contact number that is the quickest solution.

Thank you, don't need to get people more scared than necessary. Maintaining a strength of cat 3 12 hours after landfall is unlikely. Possible I suppose but unlikely.

Thank you! He has been in contact with the National Guard. Wasn't sure if there were any other resources out there I didn't know of.

The western eyewall will probably still be intact if the storm gets there tomorrow AM so track that on radar.
Strong gusts in the squalls will stun you but sustained winds will probably be 40 to 60 MPH.
Pinellas county has over 140,000 power outages reported, and that is over 60 miles from the center.

Total whiteout now in Punta Gorda on Severestudios live cam. Per post that just beat me, Josh is now getting rocked possibly sooner than he was expecting.

Ugh, looting reported in Ft. Myers. Curfew in place for all of Lee County, Charlotte County, and the City of Naples.
