Summer's for hibernation, Winter’s my vacation

Don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?

All observations I post are for Temple, Texas unless otherwise stated.

The NAM/ARW camp vs HRRR is interesting for us in western East Texas. NAM is half inch of ice for me vs HRRR keeps it barely all rain.

Looks like the freezing line has pushed through pretty much all of DFW.

HRRR has really increased sleet totals and overall QPE over the last few runs…not looking forward to this for any part of the south tomorrow.

I notice there are mping reports of freezing drizzle and grauple still in the okc area, despite no returns showing up on radar. Up to this point I was wondering if the reason for the discrepancy between model qpf and forecast qpf was because much of it would evaporate before reaching the ground. However, if points that far north have low levels saturated enough to produce “silent” precip, I doubt that’s the case. Makes me think the nws forecast will in fact be playing catch up

Yeah it's been happening here all day even though it was supposed to end hours ago. When I came home at 730 the cars were starting to get icy. I mean they had mentioned freezing drizzle for this morning maybe briefly but this all day thing has surprised me and I can't help but wonder if that's also what offices to the south have noticed

I'd also love an answer to this question.

Called it!! EWX has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Comal, Hays, Caldwell, Bastrop, and Lee Counties.

In the meantime, saw/felt a bit of a drizzle here in Northern Bexar County. Also a bit colder than I expected…

The freeze line has made it to my area. This is well ahead of any model. If noting else this colder than modeled before precip serves to chill the ground.
I am starting to think that DFW may be spared worst of power issues with the inclusion of sleet but that makes roads all the more worse as sleet sticks to roads much more efficiently than freezing rain. Highest freezing rain totals look to be in the eastern DFW to western East Texas areas now. 0Z and especially 12Z models will be very telling beyond that it will be now casting.

The cmc looks even colder than it’s been showing lol… I believe San Antonio will be in some sleet by the end of things
