I expect some pretty crazy model runs over the next week or so, I like the 500 mb on the GFS and CMC 00z , you can clearly see blocking retrograding towads alaska and becoming established

I actually didn’t like the 500 mb on the end of the 18z GEFS but yeah, we’re gonna see some crazy model runs over the next couple weeks.

75 and doing yard work with Dad when a thunderstorm rolls in and it plummets to 25 very quickly and the most intense Thunder Sleet then Thunder Snow and then beautiful next morning of nothing but white.

I’ll never forget it.

Same arctic front for me. Really havent seen one that massive since.
Grew up in Sugar Land, i was 5 years old. Window faced north and i woke up in the middle of the night to sleet absolutely pounding the massive window i had. Yelled for my parents and they had an excitement in their voice when they told me, "it's going to snow tomorrow." Woke up and everything was white. Can still remember that visual to this day. Been hooked since.

Dec 1989 I was 13 years old. Got 2 in of snow (live 60 miles SW of New Orleans) we left to go visit grandparents for a couple of days 3 hours away for Christmas. Came home to water pouring out the house and busted pipes in the attic. Busted ceilings, carpet had to be torn out. Huge mess and a lot of damage to my parents home. Temp got down to 9 degrees. Have not experienced anything that cold since.

We will see a system like what's across Texas in January and February with the added fun of it being quite cold. :cold:

Canadian model is always too cold. The fast southern storm track should keep any significant cold to our north for the next week or two.

GFS ens, CMC ens, and Euro ens indicate a PV split. 10, 50, 60mb all shows major SSW.

1040s-1060 HP could set up shop over the Beaufort Sea above Alaska. Should seed and set up some cold over North America.

I remember it well. We had trimmed trees at our house in town and were hauling them out to our property north of Longview when that front hit.
