When will Debby form?

#1 Postby CyclonicFury » Fri Jul 05, 2024 9:00 am

I'm thinking around July 27th, in the MDR. 2024 does not seem to be a year for MCS non-tropical origin spinups so far.

Went with end of July. I think Debby will be a minor hurricane in the MDR before either Ernesto or Francine comes along and turn into yet another long-tracking, Cat 5 monster.

Unless explicitly stated, all info in my posts is based on my own opinions and observations. Tropical storms and hurricanes can be extremely dangerous. Do not think you can beat Mother Nature. Refer to an accredited weather research agency or meteorologist if you need to make serious decisions regarding an approaching storm.

I have 2 Aunt Debbie’s. They are both very tame so nothing to worry about. She will fizzle

Went with end of July. I expect the EPAC to get a moment of opportunity for development after Beryl before the Atlantic takes over again.

I went with 8/1 - 8/10. I'm guessing that we will have a normal July lull after Beryl. I think we will get an early start in August and remain busy through October... so instead of ringing the bell on 8/20 I will ring my own personal bell on 8/1 this year.

July 21-31, probably an unremarkable short spin-up from non-tropical origins. I think we’ll be in a lull for most of July after Beryl due to the MJO passage and climo.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.
