OR ARI?
Accelerated Rapid Intensification

NHC used the actual term, "Explosive Intensification"

I wonder what the pressure actually is at this point. I see the nhc has further dropped it to 909mb but it was dropping near 10mb an hour when recon left and I see no reason that would stop. It could conceivably be approaching Katrina’s pressure right now

Yucatan might dodge a bullet. Looking like Milton might have stopped its southward progression.

For now I think it’s safe to put it in the mid 900s because while it was in the middle of ERI, we can’t tell if it’s slowing down until recon gets back there in a few hours.

I am only a meteorology enthusiast who knows a decent amount about tropical cyclones. Look to the professional mets, the NHC, or your local weather office for the best information.

At which point will Milton hit the MPI? And do we know what it even is?

This map suggests the minimum potential pressure is in the 890s (higher towards Mexico coast, a bit lower further north). However, Beryl did outperform the wind MPI, though I'm not sure if there are any instances of storms outperforming pressure MPI.

They get priority fueling status and recieve a Truck everyday. Trust me they never run out, on the off chance they do another truck is always en route within 30 minutes

The state has strategic reserves ready for this sort of thing and WaWa gets them

This is jaw-dropping and heartbreaking. A good friend has 2 sisters who live in Bradenton, luckily I heard today that they are evacuating, though not sure to where they are going.

Everyone stay safe! I definitely worry about what the west coast of Florida is going to look like in 3 days...

I would appreciate advice on best routes, times for driving or better evacuation options from south Pinellas.

Would it make sense to go south over sunshine bridge then somehow work our way north and east?
Than you

Lakeland should be fine.

If you're in a mobile home in Lakeland I would still evacuate.

A mobile home in Orlando wouldn't make me feel that much more warm and fuzzy

I wouldn't really trust that MPI map, it's pretty much useless

Miami is not a bad alternative. Should be TS gusts correct?

There's arguably a heightened flash flood risk for SE Florida.

This storm is giving me a different kind of explosive intensification.
