At least a dozen homes damaged in Wellington. There’s a business in Ft Pierce that just had the metal ripped off the building an a concrete poll snapped in half

101kt SFMR. Data integrity issues aside (this is the AF plane, not NOAA) this is still a major hurricane.

To correct your statement Ryan Hall isn't a meteorologist, but I think he did get a degree in "broadcast" meteorology I think but that's a big difference. I googled him awhile back. His sidekick Andy is a meteorologist though.

It was singular possessive. Think Ed was talking about Andy Hill.

Wow was insane there for 4 hrs. Martin county had a minimum of 5 confirmed touch downs with extensive damage. Never in my life have I seen or been in anything like that before.

The banding may make the eye seem huge on some radar loops, but high-res Tampa Bay radar shows it's actually not:

National radar at the same time:

i know radar can play tricks on the eyes, but these last 30 mins of frames sure looks like there is a tighter low in the NNW section of the big eye formation and it and the convection seem to have a more northernly component to them.

Can someone explain why the surge projections, on the surge inundation map, dropped so drastically?

That might have been the St Lucie County Sheriff’s Department. It sustained heavy damage. We live in south Fort Pierce and have had more tornado warnings than you can shake a stick at. Calm at the moment though, but no power. Way more fortunate than others, though.

118 kt FL wind measured by recon, sufficient to keep the intensity at 105 kt instead of a decrease to 100 kt.

Great question, storm surge should not have gone away even if it weakened, but how then do you explain that

Surge is going to come in south and down to Naples as that western eyewall stuff rotates back around. Then after it pulls away continued SW flow so look down that way

Wind is blowing from the east out of Tampa bay.

I understand why Tampa Bay won’t get it. Why did it drop so drastically for Sarasota County and Charolette Harbor?

It's your standard sheared halfacane, but unfortunately south Pinellas and Tampa are getting the wrong half.

Crazy stuff for sure here in The Fort. A friend in Palm City said it was really hairy over there.

Lower wind velocities occurred in time but there is still some surge.

The eye of the storm also seems to have a detached retina as the eyewall has been sheared out to north except for the NW side.
