Remember the past few La Nina Winters have been anything but boring, it all depends on the EPO
Was winter 2021 a la nina winter because we had the Winter Apocalypse in Texas in February 2021 that took down our grid. Statewide event.
It was a first year La Niña. First year La Niña’s can sometimes be quite interesting.

I have very low expectations for this winter but I mean the last two years have been among the worst winters ever here on record so I can't imagine how it gets any worse. I mean we literally had a total of like 6 hours of snow in two winters when we average 9 inches a year not to mention two snow holes where it snowed all around us and rained in the city because we were one degree too warm in back to back winters. Yeah it can't possibly be any worse. Like another winter like the last two I'm gonna question our climate
And yeah La Nina's can be very interesting here. Hopefully that holds up

hearing alot of 2016-2017 winter analogs being used for this winter, if thats the case, winter might be over before it even started

Good grief that's about the worst analog possible.

Who said that
I mean I have snowy trips this winter but I really can't believe we won't do better than we've been doing here. Its been beyond pathetic for our climo and trips are never gonna replace snow at home either

Brent Pow Ponder is his youtube channel, but hes a very good and reliable met, lives up in Dallas, he belives the 2016-2017 winter analogs are the closest to what will happen this winter , then again their are others who say its gonna be different than that, specially Larry Cosgrove has more of an Enso neutral winter idea which would be better for cold and winter weather for most of the US

Anything but that analog. It's been pathetic enough here already

Latest first freeze on record for OKC is December 4th. Looking like we will get one in just before this.

I had a freeze a few weeks ago, or was very close to one

If we can get a decent pacific more than recent years, I believe we should have our opportunities for cold and snow. The wpo and epo are very important to help give us a decent cold air source.

I personally don't believe it has any similarities to 2013 or even 2000, especially if we keep a +PNA. Back then if I recall, high pressure came down the spine of the rockies instead of it further east. It's still early so anything is possible but that's the way it seems like to me

Things are starting to look a bit interesting around the december 10th timeframe or so, GFS/ Euro have a system digging out in west texas with cold air pouring into the state, doesnt mean a whole lot at this range, but ensembles kinda starting to see it too, could be an interesting next couple of weeks

It's looking remarkably seasonal temp-wise (which after our torch of a Fall is probably a welcome change) for the 1st half of December with an eastern trough / western ridge alignment.
Not seeing much in the way of siginificant precip (both rain & snow-wise) outside of possibly South Texas under this pattern though.
In other words, the boring time of year (when I semi-stop posting) with the most boring type of weather imaginable is here!
