Re: Texas Winter 2024-2025
A large portion on the northeast is about to get buried in snow the next couple weeks.

What’s the timing and would those cold temps make it to the Houston area? Travis Herzog did post on FB about freezing temps returning next week and doing it again around Presidents Day.

Sambucol2024 if the AIFS is correct, timing would be the 15th/16th ish, at the very least. i do expect high temperatures in the upper 40’s to low 50’s next week, a much needed change from this dreadful warmth and insufferable mosquitoes lol

ICON continues to keep much of the state on a rollercoaster ride regarding temps next week but nothing terribly cold. In fact, it actually tries to warm up southern sections of the state back into the 80's Wednesday and Thursday.
NAM much cooler Sunday into Monday so clearly going to be a battle as to where the front stalls.

GEFS has the EPO going negative again after the 20th , all this to say, probably the rest of february is going to have alot of volatility to it in terms of temperature swings if the EPO keeps going up and down

AO looks to be climbing back closer to neutral around the timeframe and then you add the PNA moving back to positive. That's all she wrote if that holds even with a slightly negative EPO. EPS still trending slightly positive so you're looking at something more neutral perhaps in the wash between the two.
Once we get passed mid-February however across our region of the state in particular, odds drop considerably for anything impactful in terms of winter weather/temps considering our temperature norms climatogically for that time period begin to rise considerably.
I'd' actually like to see a little temp clash to get some non-severe thunderstorms to put down some rain across SC TX where it's still very much needed.

I'm thinking a cold rain is all we're getting this time.
Between what I'm seeing on the National Weather Service and the lack of posts on here, this is it for winter and a cold rain will finish us off.

In other words, typical climo for our region...

Any frozen precip next week will likely be located from the Red River northward into OK. Even the NAM which is the coldest model (and likely closest to reality) has temperatures near 40 in DFW when it's raining on Tuesday.

The quicker the warm sticky air gets pushed out the better. It's gross and needs to get to the Gulf where it belongs.

Cannot wait for this front to come through and get that northerly flow for awhile. This cedar pollen whiplash from the back and forth has been miserable for me.

The humidity % is irrelevant. It’s all about the dew point. I never pay attention to the humidity %.
