Hmmm, I get the damnest messages in my fortune cookies these days - "Things become intense on, or the day after Labor Day this year". That left me little choice but to guess the 1st week of Sept!

This may be extremely bold, but I'm going to say that we'll get a major, MDR-born hurricane in mid-August, around the timeframe the velocity potential has been predicted to be favorable for the Atlantic based on long-range modeling as well as rumblings that the MDR is trying to wake up somewhat.

Unless explicitly stated, all info in my posts is based on my own opinions and observations. Tropical storms and hurricanes can be extremely dangerous. Do not think you can beat Mother Nature. Refer to an accredited weather research agency or meteorologist if you need to make serious decisions regarding an approaching storm.

Early September. Even if peak season is delayed this year something should form by the end of August and that or another storm become the first major.

Despite my expectations for a backloaded year, my gut is telling me that we get our first major just before the end of August.

Leaning towards mid to late August. Even if things are showing struggles currently in the models for the MDR, I think it’s a precursor of change in environment and waves coming through to help moisturize that area for something to form into a major.

Poll has closed for voting and the August 26-31 was the winner. Let's see in real time how things evolve and have the first major cane.

2025 has really broken the streak of relatively inactive mid-Augusts, especially in terms of quality in the deep tropics, that started in at least 2016 if not arguably 2010.
