WFS has been a hot spot this year, for sure.

Need to watch another tropical disturbance that most models have been advertising moving into the southern gulf later this week.

At a minimum increased moisture/chances for precip could impact coastal areas possibly moving into SC TX Friday into Saturday assuming this doesn't become something stronger.

Currently tracking this south of the Yucantan and looks pretty impressive on visible this morning just off the coast of Honduras.

Twister- I created a topic on that in the tropical section… it does have that look and it’s coming straight where Harvey came from… not saying it’s going to be a system but it is something to keep an eye on!!

Definitely loooong way to go before anything resembling Harvey. That's doubtful. Lots of systems/activity can get generated down in that region of the carribean but due to land interaction or other factors (shear) never fully develop

Right now it's mid to upper level driven so until we get a low pressure at the surface it's basically just a blob of convection but no doubt it definitely should be watched over the next few days.

While it does look fairly healthy on satellite imagery today, chances of tropical development look low. It should reach south TX Friday into Saturday bringing increasing rain chances to the region.

Convection has now been tagged (X) by NHC in the SW Caribbean. They currently give it 20% odds of tropical cyclone development but they do acknowledge some development is possible as it emerges into the SW Gulf later this week (likely Thursday).

The NE side of the Metroplex (the Collin County suburbs and NE Dallas County) got a decent hit today. Got grazed by a wind-driven downpour and with some pretty loud cracks of thunder here too.

It appears the best that summer can throw is behind us. Looks seasonal if not slightly below, especially week 2 when models are hinting at 500mb weakness.

Earlier this season, when I was dreading another brutal summer, I mentioned that some of my posts would be on the negative side. Nothing could be further from the truth. It's been hot of course but man, what an amazing summer here in North Texas. HPs meandering, rain and clouds some days, and finally a normal to below normal summer for a change. Remember this folks, it could be many years before we see this again. Loving the forecast for later this month. I agree with NTWX, summer has probably peaked and averages start falling Friday. The morning average has already dropped one degree. Fall will be here soon and that makes me energetic for the cooler months.

Yep the EURO AI has been consistently showing multiple cool fronts moving through during the later half of the month starting around the 21st.FWIW

We’re sitting on a total of three 100+ days in DFW. That would be the fewest in a season since 2004, which was also very rainy early on. This has been a very manageable summer. (I won’t say enjoyable because it’s still hot.)

We have invest 98L now per NHC for the disturbance about to enter the SW gulf. Euro ENS have a few members showing some weak development before making landfall either in NE Mexico or South Texas late Friday.

Regardless could see some increased rain chances late Friday into Saturday for coastal areas into SC TX

Yup only one here... And I'm not sure there's gonna be another one. Odds start decreasing rapidly soon especially with fronts already showing up. September doesn't even average one here

Also interestingly we haven't even seen a low above 80 yet which is maybe even crazier. Most mornings it's really not that miserable honestly

Not seeing a signal for any major heat to come back to texas , in fact all i see is rain/ average to cooler temps in the extended range on the global models, keep it coming! We have been very lucky this summer

GFS has been hinting at a gulf storm at the end of the month. Most runs take it to Louisiana, but the 6z has a pretty big storm hitting around Houston. Something to watch over the next two weeks.

I dunno about the tropics but there's a lot of hype about some massive cold front around the end of the month. Personally I'll believe it when I see it. Can't expect anything too crazy when it's still August but I mean it hasnt been a bad summer so maybe we do a little better? It's all the talk here

LOL yep i noticed that.Would be the first true Fall storm system/front of the season if it were to verify.Right on time for the start of Meteorological Fall. With a decent amount of rain also to boot. But like you said I'll believe it when i see it. Interesting scenario though if it did pan out.
