So what's changed in the Woodlands forecast? Weather app basically gave up on wintry precip.
Convection can lift and cool the warm nose briefly/locally so a few flakes mix in with the rain even above freezing. Heavy rain falling into a dry warm nose can produce sleet with above freezing surface temps, heavy rain falling through a near saturated warm nose can transport enough warmth down that temps briefly go above freezing.
